ILUMA i vs ILUMA vs old IQOS: why TEREA will not work in a blade device
SmartCore induction explained in plain language, plus what to do if you still own an IQOS 3 DUO.
Induction versus blade
Older IQOS devices (2.4, 3, 3 DUO, MULTI) push a ceramic blade into a HEETS stick. ILUMA and ILUMA i have no blade at all — an induction coil heats a metal SmartCore sealed inside the TEREA stick itself. That is why there is nothing to clean and why the tobacco never touches a heating element.
TEREA and HEETS are not interchangeable
A TEREA stick has no hole for a blade, so forcing it into an IQOS 3 DUO damages the blade and produces no vapour. HEETS in an ILUMA i simply will not heat, because there is no SmartCore to induct. If you own a blade device and want TEREA, you need an ILUMA i device — the ILUMA i One at AED 179 is the cheapest correct entry point.
ILUMA i One vs Standard vs Prime
ILUMA i One (AED 179) is one piece, around 20 sessions per charge, no holder to lose. ILUMA i Standard (AED 289) splits into pocket charger and touchscreen holder and adds Pause Mode plus FlexPuff, which reads your draw and adjusts heating live. ILUMA i Prime (AED 399) is the same electronics inside an aluminium body with a fabric-wrapped door. Performance is identical between Standard and Prime; you are paying for materials.
Battery reality in UAE heat
Keep the device out of a parked car in July. Lithium cells degrade fastest above 45°C, and a device left on a dashboard will lose usable sessions within weeks. Charge indoors, and expect a full day of normal use from Standard and Prime.
