IQOS in the UAE

What it is, what it is not, which device takes which stick, and what the whole thing costs — delivered across the Emirates.

IQOS is heated tobacco: real tobacco warmed to around 350°C by an electronic holder instead of being burned. It is legal to sell and use in the UAE for adults aged 18 and over, it is not a vape, and it is not a cigarette. Devices run AED 179 to AED 399 and a carton of 200 sticks runs AED 119 to AED 199.

What IQOS actually is

IQOS is Philip Morris International's heated tobacco system. A short stick of real, compressed tobacco goes into an electronic holder, the holder heats it to roughly 350°C, and what comes off is an aerosol. The tobacco is never lit and never burns, so there is no flame, no ember, no ash and nothing to stub out.

That one difference — heated rather than burned — is the whole product. It is also why IQOS is regulated, taxed and named differently from cigarettes, and why the sticks are sold as sticks rather than as cigarettes.

IQOS is still tobacco. It is not a cessation aid, it is not risk-free, and it is for adults who already use tobacco. Nobody selling it, including us, should tell you otherwise.

Is IQOS a vape? No — and the difference matters

This is the single most common thing people get wrong, and it is worth being precise. A vape heats a flavoured nicotine liquid held in a pod or a tank. There is no tobacco leaf in it at all. IQOS heats a stick of real compressed tobacco and contains no liquid.

Three separate categories, not two: burned tobacco (cigarettes), heated tobacco (IQOS), and liquid with no tobacco in it (vapes). IQOS is the middle one. If a shop describes IQOS as a vape, they are either being loose with language or they do not know the product — and the same applies to anyone selling you "IQOS pods", which do not exist.

Is IQOS legal in the UAE?

Yes. Heated tobacco products and the devices that use them have been legal to sell and use in the United Arab Emirates since 2019, sold to adults aged 18 and over, under the same excise treatment as other tobacco products and to UAE product specifications.

The old prohibition is still widely remembered, which is why the question keeps being asked. Where you may use it is a separate matter from whether it is legal to own — indoor rules in malls, offices, restaurants and airports apply to heated tobacco the same way they apply to cigarettes, and venues set their own policies on top. Check the venue, not the law.

The IQOS device family in 2026

Two things decide which device you need, and neither is the price. The first is the heating method: current IQOS devices — the ILUMA and ILUMA i families — heat by induction and have no blade. The older IQOS 3 generation heats with a physical ceramic blade. The second follows from it: induction devices take TEREA sticks, blade devices take HEETS, and neither stick works in the other's device.

The current line is the ILUMA i: the i One, the i Standard and the i Prime. Before it came the original ILUMA, ILUMA ONE and ILUMA PRIME, which are discontinued but still work perfectly and still take every TEREA carton on this site.

IQOS sticks — TEREA and HEETS

TEREA is the stick for every ILUMA and ILUMA i. It is fully enclosed, with a metal SMARTCORE inside that the device heats by induction, so nothing touches the tobacco and there is no residue and no cleaning. We sell TEREA from seven markets — Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Japan, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan — because the flavour lineups and the prices differ, not because any of them is more genuine than another.

HEETS is the stick for the blade-era devices. If an IQOS 3 DUO is what you own, HEETS is what fits, and no TEREA will heat in it — a TEREA stick has no blade slot at all.

What IQOS costs in the UAE

Devices run from AED 179 for the ILUMA i One to AED 399 for the i Prime, all in sealed retail boxes.

Sticks are sold by the full carton — 10 packs, 200 sticks, the same count as a carton of cigarettes. TEREA runs from AED 119 to AED 199 depending on the market version, which is AED 11.90 a pack of twenty at the bottom of the range.

Delivery is a flat AED 30 anywhere in the country and free once the order passes AED 350. There is no minimum and nothing is charged online: you pay cash on delivery, by card on delivery with 5% VAT added, or by bank transfer — after you have seen the sealed box.

Where to buy IQOS in the UAE

Two routes. IQOS runs its own boutiques and counters in the larger malls, which is where you go if you want to hold a device before deciding. Or you order for delivery, which is what we do.

We cover Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman in one to three hours and Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain within 24 hours. If you searched "IQOS near me", the practical answer in this country is usually a delivery rather than a drive — and the check that matters is the same either way.

Look at the shrink-wrap before you pay the driver. It should be factory-tight and unbroken, with the authentication code on the pack intact and unscratched. That is the only proof of genuine stock anyone can hand you, and it is why we sell sticks by the full sealed carton rather than by the pack.

IQOS — frequently asked

What is IQOS?
IQOS is Philip Morris International's heated tobacco system. An electronic holder heats a stick of real compressed tobacco to around 350°C instead of burning it, so there is no flame, no ash and no smoke — an aerosol rather than combustion.
Is IQOS a vape?
No. A vape heats flavoured nicotine liquid and contains no tobacco leaf. IQOS heats a stick of real tobacco and contains no liquid. They are separate product categories, and "IQOS pods" do not exist.
Is IQOS a cigarette?
No. A cigarette burns tobacco at around 900°C and what you inhale is smoke. An IQOS stick is never lit — it is heated from the inside and never combusts. Same plant, entirely different process, and different regulation and taxation as a result.
Is IQOS legal in the UAE?
Yes. Heated tobacco and the devices that use it have been legal to sell and use in the UAE since 2019, to adults aged 18 and over, under UAE product specifications and the same excise treatment as other tobacco. Indoor venue rules still apply exactly as they do to cigarettes.
How much does IQOS cost in Dubai?
Devices are AED 179 to AED 399. TEREA cartons of 200 sticks run AED 119 to AED 199 depending on the market version. Delivery is AED 30, free over AED 350.
Which IQOS device do I need for TEREA?
Any ILUMA or ILUMA i. Those heat by induction, which is what a TEREA stick is built for. A blade-era IQOS such as the 3 DUO will not heat TEREA at all, because a TEREA stick has no blade slot.
Where can I buy IQOS near me in the UAE?
IQOS boutiques exist in the larger malls, and delivery shops like this one cover the whole country — 1–3 hours in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and within 24 hours in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.
What is the newest IQOS device?
The ILUMA i line — the i One, i Standard and i Prime — is the current generation. It replaced the original ILUMA, ILUMA ONE and ILUMA PRIME, and it added a touchscreen, Pause Mode, FlexPuff and Auto-start without changing the heating or the sticks.

The long version of the cigarette question — including the numbers behind the price comparison — is in Is TEREA a cigarette?
