Who the ILUMA i Prime is for

Two buyers, and neither of them is shopping on specifications. The first wants the device to be an object worth putting on a table — the same instinct that picks a watch over a phone clock. The second is buying a gift and wants it to look like one when the box is opened.

AED 399 is the top of our range. Everything inside it is shared with the AED 289 model, and this page won't pretend otherwise. What's different is entirely on the outside, and for a device you handle twenty times a day that turns out to matter more than the spec sheet suggests.

Aluminium, and the fabric-wrapped door

The body is aluminium rather than polymer, which changes two things you notice immediately: weight and temperature. It has some heft in the hand, and it stays cool where a plastic shell warms up.

The holder door is wrapped in fabric — a soft-touch panel that stops the whole thing reading as an electronic gadget. It also hides fingerprints, which the darker polymer finishes on the other models absolutely do not.

Aluminium ages differently too. It'll pick up fine marks over a couple of years the way a metal lighter does, rather than scuffing and looking cheap. Some people specifically want that.

The door itself opens with a bit more resistance than the polymer models, which sounds like nothing until you've used both. It's the detail that makes the device feel engineered rather than moulded, and it's the reason most Prime owners describe the difference in terms of how it feels in the hand rather than how it looks in a photo.

What the extra AED 110 does not buy you

Not a longer session. Not more sessions per charge. Not faster heating, not a different taste, not a wider range of compatible sticks. The electronics are the same as the Standard model, and anyone telling you the Prime heats better is selling something.

We'd rather say that plainly. If you're buying for performance, save the money. If you're buying because you'll be holding this thing several times a day for the next two years and you want it to feel right, that's a legitimate reason and the AED 110 is well spent.

The one thing the Prime does buy that isn't cosmetic is longevity of appearance. Aluminium and fabric hold up over years of pocket use in a way a polymer shell doesn't, so a two-year-old Prime still looks like a AED 399 device. That's worth something to the people who care, and nothing at all to the people who don't.

The four finishes, and who picks which

Obsidian Black is the default and the one most people choose when they're buying for themselves — quiet, dark, doesn't announce itself on a meeting table. Slate Blue is the same instinct with a bit more character to it.

Bright Amber and Garnet Red are the gift finishes. Warmer, more visible, and the two we pack most often when the order note says it's for someone else. Garnet Red in particular is the one people photograph.

If you're stuck between two, go by where the device will sit rather than by which colour you like on a screen. A device that lives on a desk in an office gets looked at by other people all day, and Obsidian Black is the finish nobody ever regrets in that setting. A device that lives in a bag and comes out at home can be as loud as you want it to be.

All four are the same price and the same device underneath. Stock on the brighter finishes moves faster, so if Garnet Red or Bright Amber is the one you want, say so early in the message rather than at the end.

How Prime orders usually run

A high proportion of them are gifts, and they follow a pattern. Sealed retail box, delivered to an address in Al Barsha or Downtown, timed for an evening rather than a working afternoon. If it's a present, add a TEREA carton to the same order — a device with no sticks is a device that sits in its box until the recipient can order for themselves.

At AED 399 the device alone already clears the AED 350 threshold, so delivery costs nothing whatever else you add. Payment stays the same as every other order: cash on delivery, card on delivery or bank transfer, and you see the sealed box before anything is paid.

Looking after an aluminium body

A metal device asks for slightly different handling than a plastic one, and none of it is demanding.

Keep it out of the pocket with your keys. Aluminium is soft enough that a key edge leaves a line rather than bouncing off, and the first scratch on a AED 399 device is the one that annoys people most. A jacket pocket, a bag sleeve or the fabric side facing outward all solve it.

The fabric door wants a dry cloth, not a wet one. Wipe along the weave rather than in circles, and leave solvents and alcohol wipes well away from it — they lift the finish and there's no way back from that. The aluminium itself takes a microfibre cloth and nothing else. There's no chamber to clean, because induction heating leaves no residue behind at all.

Beyond that, it's the same rules as any lithium device in this climate. Charge it indoors, don't leave it on a dashboard in Deira in August, and it'll look and work the way it did on day one for years rather than months.

Delivery across the UAE

Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman are express zones. Once an order is confirmed it reaches you in 1–3 hours, and often inside the hour in Deira, Bur Dubai, Al Barsha, Marina, JLT, Business Bay, Al Nahda and Al Nuaimiya. Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain arrive within 24 hours of confirmation.

Delivery is a flat AED 30 anywhere in the country and free once the order passes AED 350. There's no minimum — a single device is a perfectly normal order, and plenty of the deliveries we run are exactly that.

Payment is cash on delivery, card on delivery or bank transfer. You pick when the driver is in front of you, and nothing is taken before that.

How to check your ILUMA i Prime order is genuine

Three checks take about ten seconds. The outer wrap should be tight factory shrink film with clean edges and no sign of re-taping. The retail box must be sealed, with the code panel untouched. The printing should be crisp, with the correct market text for the version you ordered.

Run those checks while the driver waits. If something looks wrong, hand the order back and pay nothing — that's the practical reason to pay on delivery instead of in advance.
