TEREA Smooth, Balanced, Rich and Ruby Regular: the Japanese Regulars compared

By TEREA Dubai Shop Team · Published · Updated

Four Japanese TEREA sticks carry the word Regular and they are not the same stick. Strength, taste, price and who each one suits — Smooth, Balanced, Rich and Ruby.

Four sticks, one word

The Japanese TEREA carton is the widest lineup we stock — fifteen sticks — and four of them share the word Regular: Smooth Regular, Balanced Regular, Rich Regular and Ruby Regular. In Japan, Regular simply means a tobacco stick with no menthol, the opposite of the Menthol line. It tells you nothing about strength, and that is where people go wrong: Smooth Regular and Rich Regular sit at opposite ends of our strength scale. All four are plain tobacco, all four work in every IQOS ILUMA and ILUMA i device, and none of them has a capsule.

Smooth Regular: the softest Japanese stick

Smooth Regular is rated 2 of 5 for strength, with cooling at 1 — a faint lift rather than menthol. A creamy top note sits over light tobacco, the throat hit is mild, and the finish fades quickly with almost no lingering smell. It is the stick for light users, for a sensitive throat, and for using the device indoors. Several of our regulars keep it purely as a morning stick and move to something heavier later in the day. It is the cheapest of the four at AED 199 a carton. If you know Indonesia's or Kazakhstan's lineup, the nearest everyday equivalent is TEREA Yellow — lighter and drier, without the cream.

Balanced Regular: the middle path

Balanced Regular is rated 3 of 5 and is tuned so that no single note leads: a light cereal warmth over the tobacco base and a rounded exhale that never dries the mouth. That is what makes it the easiest Japanese stick to smoke back-to-back. It suits all-day users who get flavour fatigue — people who find TEREA Amber tiring by the fourth stick and Yellow too faint. It is the Japanese carton most often bought together with a Menthol carton for variety, and it costs AED 210.

Rich Regular: the ceiling

Rich Regular takes the Regular blend and concentrates it. It is rated 5 of 5 for strength: the body is thicker, a dark-caramel sweetness appears mid-session, and the finish lasts noticeably longer between puffs. It sits with TEREA Sienna at the top of our tobacco range — Sienna is drier and more cocoa-bitter, Rich Regular rounder and sweeter. Order it if you have already worked through Amber and Sienna and want the premium end. At AED 210 a carton it makes most sense for people who use two or three sticks a day and want each one to count.

Ruby Regular: an even, clean tobacco

Ruby Regular is rated 3 of 5 with no cooling: a balanced tobacco stick with an even body and a clean finish. Of the four it is the least distinctive on paper, and that is its use — a dependable everyday tobacco stick without the cream of Smooth or the cereal warmth of Balanced. It is also AED 210 a carton. Do not confuse it with HEETS Ruby Fuse, which is a red-berry menthol stick for blade devices; the shared word is a coincidence of naming.

Which Japanese Regular should you buy?

Pick by strength first. Light smokers and indoor users: Smooth Regular (2 of 5). All-day smokers who want no single note to dominate: Balanced Regular (3 of 5). If you want a clean, even tobacco: Ruby Regular (3 of 5). Heavy smokers who find heated tobacco thin: Rich Regular (5 of 5). If the Japanese price is the sticking point, the same strength ladder exists in the cheaper editions — Yellow, Silver, Amber, TEREA Bronze and Sienna from AED 109 — and our tobacco flavours ranked guide lines them all up.

Price, delivery and ordering

Every Japanese Regular is sold by the sealed carton of 10 packs, 200 sticks: Smooth Regular AED 199, Balanced, Rich and Ruby Regular AED 210 each. That is roughly AED 1 a stick. All four are in stock and can be ordered from their own pages or from the TEREA Japan carton page, and any two Japanese cartons together clear the AED 350 free-delivery line. Delivery is within 1 to 3 hours in Dubai and Sharjah; elsewhere in the UAE it is same day before 1pm, otherwise the next day. You pay the driver — cash, card on delivery or bank transfer — after checking the seal. Adults 18 and over only. TEREA contains nicotine, which is addictive.
