By June the Blue regulars start asking the same question — is there anything colder? There is, and this is it. Turquoise carries a mint sharper than Blue with a eucalyptus edge that clears the sinuses on the exhale, and the intensity holds right to the end of the stick rather than fading out. Turquoise is the coldest stick in the Kazakh carton at five out of five for cooling, with the tobacco kept at a medium strength three underneath.

That makes it a summer flavour in the most literal sense. July and August in Dubai, straight after a gym session, or any afternoon when the standard Blue menthol has stopped feeling cold enough — those are the moments it was built for. If you like strong chewing gum, the choice between the two usually makes itself. Worth being honest about the trade: at this level of cooling the tobacco underneath gets harder to read, so anyone who wants to taste leaf as well as mint is better served one step down.

Heat, storage and a UAE summer

Somewhere between forty-five degrees outside and a car park in Al Barsha, storage stops being a theoretical concern. Sealed TEREA packs keep well at normal room temperature, and the thing that hurts them is prolonged heat and direct sun. A carton left on a dashboard in Business Bay or in a glovebox through an afternoon will dry the sticks and dull the menthol before you ever open the pack.
